Learn about the challenges Irish emigrants faced after arriving in new countries, the influence they had, and how they shaped the world. Over 70 million people worldwide claim Irish ancestry, following mass emigration over a 1,500-year period that saw around 10 million people leave Ireland. Explore the stories behind this migration, from those fleeing famine and poverty to those seeking adventure and better opportunities. Just a 2-minute walk from EPIC, visit the Jeanie Johnston, a replica famine ship. The EPIC Gift Shop also houses the Irish Family History Centre, a resource for genealogy research.
